Mental Health and Deafness Resources, Inc.
Mental Health and Deafness Resources is a sister organization to ICODA that provides intensive mental health and educational services to persons who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, or have communication disorders. This includes persons whose issues are complicated by developmental disability or neurological dysfunction.
ICODA presents biweekly experiences in the arts to the students in the Mental Health and Deafness programs. Many of the activities prepare the students for presentations for holidays and include signed songs, dance, poetry and short skits. These activities and presentations build feelings of self confidence in the children in an area that is generally lacking. Also included is the enhancement of the skills of visual motor coordination, working memory, attention and both receptive and expressive language development.
